MN River Newsletter, March 9, 2108

Greetings Minnesota River Families,

We wish you happy and meaningful days as the season swings toward the light.  At school we have had beautiful sunny days through our south windows, and warmth and calm in our work and play together.  There is some work that has really pulled the students in, especially geography map work and ongoing engagement with flags.  As always it is an honor to witness.

Thank you to those of you who contributed consumable materials to the classroom over the past weeks, and particularly to those of you who have worked so hard to provide us with wonderful snacks.  All of us appreciate it very much.

These are the academic lessons given in the past two weeks:  The first years are learning about articles and phonograms while the second and third years are studying prepositions, verbs and contractions.  In geometry, the students continue to work on their particular areas of study: sensorial exploration of shapes, measuring angles and quadrilaterals.  The first years have started an exciting unit on the parts and history of flags.  Second years have started their detailed study of the continents and the third years have begun their cumulative work on Study of a the USA.  Biology and history have presented the students with a variety of topics, including reading the clock, studying the early formation of the earth and ancient civilizations.  The first years have been learning about the parts of leaves, second years have been looking at the vital functions of vertebrates and third years have begun their study of the classification of plants.

Our best to you all!

In Partnership,
Erik and Patrick
